Trump's Big Ugly Bill, along with his illegal Executive Orders, will:

Force women and girls to give birth
  • repeal FDA approval for abortion medication (p. 458) 

  • permit hospitals to deny life-saving abortions (p.474) 

  • allow a “Department of LIfe” (the old Department of Health) to track women’s pregnancies (p. 489) 

  • dismantle sex education (p. 477) 

  • redefine the “morning after pill” as abortion (p. 485) 

  • replace birth control programs with “fertility awareness,” (pp. 455, 484-485) and

  • divert childcare funding into programs that push women to stay at home (pp. 486, 587)

Make life harder for New Mexico's 134,000 plus veterans
  • Cut more than $37 million from veterans and service members’ benefits (pp. 649–650)

  •  Close numerous VA clinics and decrease the standard of care for American veterans, especially those in rural areas (p. 647) 

  • Slash more than $59 million in military healthcare services (p. 647)

  •  Increase healthcare costs for military families (p. 646)

  • Cut over $14 million from military housing allowances and make  military families record and submit housing expenses to the VA (p. 516)

  • Put at risk the jobs of the nearly 637,000 veterans working for the federal government by making it easier to fire federal employees and disbanding agencies (pp. 180, 133,  319)

Dismantle clean energy programs & boost fossil fuels

  • Prioritize vouchers and a privatized system, undermining the “woke” public school system (p. 319)

  • Subsidize private and religious schools and allow them to reject any students they don’t want (p. 351)

  • Reject gender equity and “critical race theory” from public school curricula (pp. 4-5, 342-343)

  • allow parents to sue school districts that don’t comply with their demands (p. 344)

Gut protections for the LGBTQ+ community
  • replace equity policies for the LGBTQ+ community with those that “support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families” (p. 451)

  • remove Title IX requirements  to protect LGBTQ+ individuals from discrimination in education spaces (pg. 33)

  • allow faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against LGBTQ+ couples. (p. 477)

  • expand religious exemptions that will allow businesses and organizations to discriminate against LGBTQ+ individuals based on religious beliefs. (p. 586)

  • restrict the application of the Supreme Court’s decision protecting LGBTQ+ workers from workplace discrimination, including hiring and firing. (p. 584)

  • rescind “regulations prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, and sex characteristics” (p. 584)

  • end parents or physicians’ ability to ‘reassign’ the sex of a minor, calling it child abuse. (p. 5)​

  • remove terms related to gender and sexual identity from every federal document (p. 5)
